Three things that do not change
Your files stay on your machine
A ProseLoom book is ordinary .docx chapters and plain notes in a folder you
choose. Word opens them. Google Docs opens them. Your publisher opens them. If you stopped
using ProseLoom tonight, your book would still open tomorrow.
It works with no internet at all
ProseLoom runs on your own computer. On a plane, in a cabin, on a bad connection — it behaves exactly the same, because there is nothing to reach for.
Buy it once, use it forever
No subscription. No metered anything. No renting your own manuscript back from a service that could change its mind about you.
What the workshop does
You already have a word processor you like. ProseLoom is not trying to replace it — it is the part that remembers, protects and reviews, so the words you write become a book that can actually be finished.
Your book remembers
Every person, place, date and family tie you write down is captured once, in your book’s own memory. Names light up as you type. If a birth year drifts or a name is spelled two ways, you are told quietly, before it reaches print.
Every change is yours to keep or undo
Nothing is changed behind your back. When you review a new version you rule on each change, down to a single sentence, and take only what you want.
A version every time you pause
Not a save button you have to remember. A version, quietly, as you go — so the sentence you wrote an hour ago is still there when you want it back.
Word is welcome here
Open a chapter in Word, edit it there, close it. ProseLoom notices the file changed outside the app, tells you plainly, and lets you decide what happens — it never quietly picks a winner.
How it compares
The honest version. Word and Google Docs are excellent at what they do, and ProseLoom does not try to out-typeset either of them.

Competitor capabilities as generally documented by their makers. If anything here is wrong or has changed, tell us and we will correct it — that is not a courtesy, it is the point.
Where this actually stands
ProseLoom is being built now, and is in private testing. There is no public download yet, and there is no Mac version yet.
We would rather tell you that than put a download button here that gives you something we have not finished testing. When there is a real installer, this page will say so and the file will be here with its checksum next to it.
That is a mailbox, not a marketing list. One message when there is something to download.
